The North East of Ireland is a wonderful mix of busy urban centres and ancient history, stretching from the banks of the River Liffey in Dublin City Centre, to the border with Northern Ireland, and west to the border with Co Donegal.
You are spoiled for choice with the many bustling towns up and down the coastal area, such as Malahide, Swords, Drogheda, Dundalk, Cavan and Monaghan, but you don’t have to sacrifice spectacular attractions. The region is home to Ireland’s most significant prehistoric site at Newgrange, older than the Pyramids of Egypt.
There are pretty seaside villages like Carlingford and Skerries, a lake for every day of the year in Cavan, as well as rugged mountain ranges and the rolling landscapes of the Boyne Valley.
