Welcome to HSE Dublin and South East

With rugged mountain ranges, 350km of golden coastline and 5,000 years of history to go with it, Dublin and South East Ireland certainly has much to offer. And it is all within reach of the vibrant towns and cities along the east coast.

You will never be short of things to do here in the ‘Sunny South East’. Blue Flag beaches offer the chance to kayak, surf, snorkel, paddle board, fish, swim, horse ride or just stroll along on a beautiful strand. You can also make time to explore the network of greenways, water ways and mountain trails.

Ireland’s rich history is etched into every part of the region, from the Viking heritage of Dublin and Waterford and Kilkenny’s medieval fortress, to the magnificence of the Rock of Cashel on the Tipperary hillside.

Who we are

HSE Dublin and South East Region provides health and social care services in Carlow, Kilkenny, South East Dublin, South Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford and East Wicklow.

Community Healthcare Services are the broad range of services in a non-acute hospital setting, delivered as close as possible to people’s homes at the right time, in the right place, by the right team.

There are 70 Primary Care Centres in the Region and specialist teams working in Mental Health, Health and Wellbeing, Social Care and Disability Services. Services are provided in various settings including the service user’s own home, day hospitals, community nursing units, hostels, specialist day care centres, training centres, respite care, and residential services.

The region is served by 11 hospitals and the services delivered include inpatient scheduled care, unscheduled/emergency care, maternity services, outpatient and diagnostic services. For more information on the hospitals, click here

Arts and culture

This region is rich in art and culture, offering a diverse range of experiences that celebrate its artistic heritage and historical significance.

The South East is one of the most popular places to visit in Ireland, thanks to its vibrant and diverse cultural scene, attractions and top-class restaurants serving fresh local produce.

The national Gaelic Games and, in particular, hurling are part of the fabric of life here. This area is also known for its soccer and rugby teams, boosted by an excellent range of sporting facilities.

As well as an abundance of water sports, biking and walking trails, this lush green region is home to some of the best golf courses in the country.

Connectivity

Dublin International airport is an hour or two from most locations in the region. There you have access to flights to the UK, US and Europe.

There are regular ferry services from Rosslare in Co Wexford to Britain, France and Spain.

The South East is serviced by a network of frequent trains and buses that will transport you throughout Ireland.
