Salaries in the HSE

Salaries in the HSE are determined by the official pay scale assigned to each grade, ensuring a transparent and consistent approach for all staff. Every grade has a full range of incremental points that outline the salary journey for that role.

Most new employees start at the first point of the scale; however, incremental credit may be granted for certain grades where candidates can demonstrate relevant experience mainly in public-service. This credit allows eligible applicants to begin at a higher point, recognising the value of their previous service. Once appointed, you will move up one point each year to a higher salary until you reach the maximum of your scale. Some jobs also have associated allowances.
