How do I become a Children’s Disability Network Manager

The Children’s Disability Network Manager (CDNM) leads and manages the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) within a designated area in line with National Policy. They are the accountable and responsible person for ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe, integrated children’s disability services for children and young people with complex disability needs.

Qualifications required:

  • Hold a relevant professional qualification in Nursing or a Health and Social Care profession and where appropriate, have statutory registration or professional registration/accreditation;
  • Have a minimum of five years post qualification work experience including three years working in or managing the delivery of children’s disability therapeutic services.

Your role with the HSE

CDNM’s provide strategic operational leadership and direction, promoting interdisciplinary teamwork, integrating various services and community supports ensuring seamless partnership and coordination.

A key part of the CDNM role involves partnering with a variety of stakeholders, including: Lead Agency Management Teams, Social Care, Primary Care, Mental Health Services, Community Healthcare Network Managers, HSE and non-statutory organisations, Heads of Discipline, Network GP Lead and other relevant personnel.

Through strong leadership and governance, CDNMs drive quality assurance and continuous improvement, ensuring that the needs of children with disabilities and their families are met in a safe and effective manner promoting a culture of collaboration, excellence and innovation across services.

The Children’s Disability Network Manager (CDNM) role offers a dynamic and comprehensive leadership experience. It encompasses strategic governance responsibilities, including chairing Clinical Advisory Groups and participating in decision-making forums.

The role also involves operational oversight of budgets, infrastructure, and service delivery, providing a well-rounded foundation for progression into senior executive management positions.
