How can I apply for a Vacancy in the HSE?

You can apply to all advertised jobs on the HSE website or from the link in your email alert, provided you have the required experience & qualification.

Every campaign will have a Job Specification document that will highlight all information regarding the role including principal duties and responsibilities, eligibility criteria, required skills and competencies, salary scale etc.

We strongly encourage you to visit the Recruitment Help & Support section and go through the 3 training modules that explain how to fill an application form and how to prepare and practice for a competency based interview.

Appointments to positions in the HSE are subject to the Code of Practice published by the Commission for Public Service Appointments (CPSA).

Eligibility Criteria and Professional requirements

All job advertisements will clearly outline the eligibility criteria, including the required skills, experience, and educational qualifications.

However, healthcare professionals – such as doctors, nurses, midwives, and health and social care professionals – must also be registered with their respective regulatory bodies before practicing in the Irish health service. This requirement ensures adherence to professional standards and prioritises patient safety.

If you are in the final year of your degree, check with the relevant regulatory body for guidance on the registration process.
