This accessibility statement applies to all content published on the HSE Career Hub website https://careerhub.hse.ie/.

Device settings
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. This means you should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader
  • view content in different ways without losing information or structure

We aim to make our website content as easy to understand as possible. We aim to use plain language and clear content wherever possible while recognising that some healthcare and recruitment terminology may be necessary.

Accessibility support tools
The HSE Career Hub website includes the “Recite Me” Accessibility Toolbar, which provides a range of tools to help users customise their browsing experience.

The toolbar includes features such as:

  • Text-to-speech functionality
  • Reading aids and screen masking tools
  • Customisable text size, fonts and colour settings
  • Translation into multiple languages
  • A built-in dictionary and text styling options

These tools are intended to support users in accessing content in a way that best meets their needs.

How we test the HSE Career Hub website
We test the website using WCAG level A and AA guidelines.

  • We use SiteImprove to monitor accessibility on a weekly basis
  • We have completed accessibility audits
  • We conduct user testing and will continue to do so on an ongoing basis
  • We test the website on a range of devices, browsers and assistive technologies including screen readers.

Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard due to the non-compliances listed below.

Accessibility Limitations
Less accessible parts of the site
Some parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:

  • Some pages contain links to external websites or software that we do not own or manage, and therefore cannot guarantee their accessibility.
  • Some interactive components are provided through third-party systems and may not fully meet accessibility standards.

Non-accessible content
The content listed below is not fully accessible:

  • Some form controls and user interface elements may not provide sufficient information to assistive technologies such as screen readers.
  • Three learning modules within the “Recruitment Help & Support” section contain scrollable content that cannot be operated using a keyboard alone. The modules are provided through a third-party platform and are outside the direct technical control of the HSE Career Hub.

We review accessibility issues on an ongoing basis and aim to improve the accessibility of our content and services wherever possible.

PDFs and non-HTML documents
Some documents on this website may not be fully accessible. Examples include:

  • Some documents may be missing text alternatives
  • Some documents may lack structural markup required by assistive technologies
  • Older PDF documents may not be fully accessible.

Disproportionate burden

What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We are committed to continually improving the accessibility of the HSE Career Hub website. Accessibility is considered throughout the design, development and content publishing process. We regularly monitor the site, conduct accessibility testing and audits, and review user feedback to identify and address accessibility issues experienced by users.

Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 3rd August 2026. It was last reviewed on 27th August 2026.
The website was independently assessed for accessibility in June 2025 using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level A and Level AA.
The accessibility statement is reviewed regularly to reflect improvements and any identified accessibility issues.
